Black Cab – Hanna
Black Cab began as a psychedelic and krautrock-influenced project before evolving into one of Australia’s more distinctive electronic-rock acts, and they’ve been on the show several times – Led by Andrew Coates and James Lee, the band released Hanna as an early preview of their acclaimed album Rotsler’s Rules, and it’s our opener this week.

Blackbook – Here In the Night
Blackbook is the Swiss- Dutch synthpop duo of Albert Den Dekker and Matthias Kräutli – they formed in 2018 and are part of Germany’s darkTunes Music Group – “Here In The Night” is one of the centerpiece tracks from BLACKBOOK’s 2024 album Radio Strange – the track captures much of what BLACKBOOK does best: melodic synth-pop with cinematic atmosphere.

The Unsuited – Unsuited
I’d been wondering what happened to Bristol’s ‘Sinestar’, and though I’ve read that they’re still active and playing out, their Facebook page pointed out that singer Lain Brownlie had set off to start a new project called The Unsuited , so of course, I checked it out – they only have a few track releases, but their lead-off ‘Unsuited’ is pretty cool, and I thought I’d share.

Marta Vega – The Kill
Originally from Milan and now based in London, Marta Vega has been carving out a place in the UK’s alternative rock scene with a sound she describes as ‘lesbian grunge soul.’ This track, 2023’s The Kill pushed her music into darker territory, pairing raw emotion with gothic atmosphere and heavy alternative rock energy. I like her sound, I like the message and the track is awesome.

The Dreaming Void – The Stranger
The Dreaming Void emerged from the Norfolk music scene in 2017, and unlike many modern synth-pop acts built around a single producer or songwriter, The Dreaming Void functions as a true five-piece band – Led by vocalist Amy Hart, the band’s 2023 single The Stranger, is a combination of guitars, synths, and live rhythm section and it sounds really great.

Clare Means – Sociopath
Los Angeles singer-songwriter Clare Means first made her name as one of LA’s most recognizable street performers before building a global audience through livestreaming and independent touring. In 2023 she released the darkly compelling single Sociopath, showing a sharper edge to her songwriting. Admittedly, I’m WAY late to the Clare Means party, but I’m fixing that right now.

Zero-G Racetrack – Hard to Believe
I really do feel that with ‘Hard To Believe’ we captured the essence of Zero-G Racetrack’s first wave of songs. It sits perfectly in the Modern SynthRock pocket; the guitars rock out without overwhelming (squeals and all), the synths add the perfect flavor and the vocal hook in Chorus really sells the track.

Able Machines / Bowling For Soup – Connection
Our cover this week became the song that transformed Elastica from a buzz band on the London scene into an international alternative-rock phenomenon. It reached #2 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart and #17 on the UK Singles Chart and was a mainstay on mid-90 MTV rotations.
Our cover this week is a true collaboration between Z-GR! Radio favorite Able Machines and pop-punk veterans Bowling For Soup and is born from a shared love of Elastica’s Britpop classic. Able Machine’s Linus Dotson is Bowling For Soup’s longtime producer, so the project makes sense on multiple levels and is awesome.

Jess Chivers – Clementine Barnabet
Jess Chivers is new to the show and I really like her sound – this track is extra cool because it takes inspiration from a Louisiana teenager linked to a series of infamous axe murders in the early 1900s—a case still surrounded by controversy and unanswered questions more than a century later. Rather than drawing from personal experience, Jess’ track Clementine Barnabet appears to be built around this historical figure and the mythology that developed around her.

Dirty Beau – Stella
Dirty Beau is the creative project of Darragh Burke, a Manchester-based session musician, songwriter, and recording artist. Drawing from a background as a working musician, he’s put together a really cool library of indie-rock tunes that have a touch of cool electronic sounds throughout – ‘Stella’ is the closer and to my ears, the strongest track off of his exc ellent 2026 EP Backseat Driver.

Whiskey General – Lions
Jay Serra is a UK-based rock artist and songwriter working under the name Whiskey General. Serra’s work emphasizes performance credibility first – his songs are designed guitars forward, vocals central, arrangements built for live work out of the box, and they sound like it – Lions was released back in 2024 and appears on his current release ‘Mooreish’.
