Nick Behnan – When It’s Right, It’s Right
Kicking things off this week on Z-GR! Radio is Detroit’s Nick Behnan. In addition to releasing his own genre-blending rock, funk, and soul material, Nick also produces music for other artists and licenses – he’s had placements on NBC, MTV, Netflix, ESPN, and Fox Sports which is pretty awesome – His track When It’s Right, It’s Right has some really great guitar work throughout and is a perfect opener for this week’s show.

Lord Sonny the Unifier – Keep the Fierce
Lord Sonny the Unifier is a New York–based rock band known for their raw blend of garage rock, punk, blues, and alternative influences. I’ll admit that I’m a big, big fan of the band – this is their fourth appearance on the show, and it certainly won’t be their last..

Philip Morgan Lewis – When You’re Shattered
Philip Morgan Lewis is a London-based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer known for blending alternative rock, blues, soul, and garage rock influences into a distinctive independent sound. He has received airplay from outlets like BBC Introducing and various independent radio stations in the UK and US. I absolutely love this track – there are a ton of cool sounds throughout – also cool is the fact that Phillip’s daughter Annick Lewis provides backing vocals on several of his tracks.

The Vatcher Brothers – I’m So Happy
Vatcher Brothers are a UK indie pop/rock duo made up of brothers Ashley Vatcher and Chris Vatcher. Their music focuses on upbeat melodies, harmony vocals, and positive songwriting influenced by classic pop and modern indie rock.
The duo has built a following through independent releases and radio airplay, with a sound that emphasizes feel-good energy and strong melodic hooks. Their track I’m So Happy reflects that approach with an optimistic tone and bright pop-rock arrangement.

Zero-G Racetrack – Enjoy Today
Pink Nun – Quirky Time
Pink Nun is an indie alternative project delivering inventive art-pop with a playful edge. Their track Quirky Time is a favorite of mine – it debuted with the band back on Episode 30 and I thought it was time to remind you how great it is – they released a full length record back in March of 2025, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to some new Nun.
The Night Cry – The Cut
The NightCry is a Seattle-based darkwave/alternative rock band formed in 2020. The band describes their style as “post-modern romance,” combining moody atmospheres, layered harmonies, and a stylish gothic visual identity sometimes referred to as “posh goth.” I like their sound a lot – ‘The Cut’ is off of their 2026 album release ‘Black Roses, Violet Hearts’ and it’s worth spinning through a time or two.
Legal Matters – Stuck With Me
Stuck With Me is a harmony-driven power-pop gem by Michigan trio The Legal Matters, the band Formed in the early 2010s, and consists of Keith Klingensmith, Andy Reed, and Chris Richards. They caught my ear with some very cool vocal harmonies and a modern indie rock take on the sounds of classic ‘60s and ‘70.
Vanilla – Goodbye
Vanilla is an indie pop/rock project from Tacoma, Washington centered around songwriter Jayson Jarmon and the Charlatan Record Cartel collective. Their sound blends melodic indie rock with classic rock influences, with tracks like Goodbye highlighting their modern take on vintage-inspired radio pop.
Invadr76 / Animator – Hungry Like the Wolf
Originally released in 1982 by Duran Duran, this week’s cover became one of the defining songs of the new wave era, driven by its iconic synth riff, pulsing bassline, and cinematic MTV video that helped launch the band to international fame. The track reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US (1983) and helped launch Duran Duran as part of the Second British Invasion driven by MTV.
For our cover this week, INVADR76 and Animator bring the classic into the present with a really different, really cool take on the track – I didn’t even recognize it at first – this modern reinterpretation adds a contemporary indie edge yet manages to keep the spirit of the original alive. Here’s INVADR76 and Animator with their take on Duran Duran’s Hungry Like the Wolf.
