Atlantic Machine – Shame On You
Atlantic Machine is the personal creative outlet of Grammy-winning producer Jim Lowe, who is known for working with major artists while also releasing his own material under this name. ‘Shame on You’, the opener this week, is an excellent track off of his 2025 release ‘Race for The Sky’.
Child Seat – Money
Los Angeles – based Child Seat is a real touring indie band that has been active since the late 2010s, building a following through live shows and indie press coverage. They debuted with ‘If This Is The End, back on Episode 64 and this track, ‘Money’ is also off of their 2023 album ‘Bad Holiday’.
Stremes – Overload
The Stremes are another three-piece who are part of the Cape Town indie rock scene and have been building a catalog through singles rather than full albums so far. ‘Overload’ was released in 2025 and is a track that shows how alternative rock is pushing forward today.
Space March – It’s Alright
Sydney, Australia’s Space March AKA Craig SImmons is back for his third turn on Z-GR! Radio – this time, I’m returning to 2024’s excellent Zeros and Ones record for ‘It’s Alright’, a very cool funk‑infused electropop track that has just a touch of disco running through it. Great track.
Big Softy – Big Man
Leeds duo Big Softy was actively releasing music around 2021–2022, but there’s no evidence of ongoing activity past that period which makes me a bit sad – they has three releases before they vanished, and they are all fantastic including ‘Big Man’. Hoping to get more from them, for sure.
Hana Piranha – Lorelei
Hana Piranha is a UK-based alternative artist known for blending rock, electronic textures, and classical violin into a really powerful sonic identity. The Band is led by Hana Maria, a New Zealand-born, UK-based singer and multi-instrumentalist trained in classical violin and this track, Lorelie’ was inspired by surviving an abusive relationship, with the “Lorelei” reference coming from the German myth about a siren who lures sailors to destruction—used symbolically in the song’s revenge/healing narrative.
FFangs – Don’t Come Around Here No More
This week’s cover track is one of my all-time favorite songs by one of my all-time favorite artists – Tom Petty wrote the song with Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, they based it on Stewart’s experiences with unrequited love and infused the track with psychedelic sounds including sitar and other electronic textures. The track went to #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 on the back of a music video inspired by Alice in Wonderland imagery which featured Petty as the Mad Hatter.
FFangs – the artist behind this modern reimagining of “Don’t Come Around Here No More” — is an indie electronic/alt project associated with Michigan, USA, led by singer‑songwriter/producer JJ Jennings.
Zero-G Racetrack – Life Is Short
We’re wrapping up Episode 76 with a track by my band Zero-G Racetrack – ‘Life is Short’ is our 8-plus minute magnum opus and closing track track of our upcoming full-length album of the same name – it’s a journey through several decades of rock, synth, and electronic grooves making it a definitive example of the Modern Rock Evolution.
