Big Image – Parallel Love Affair (Edit)
The UK’s indie-dance/pop four piece originally performed under the name Ivory Wave – they built a live following playing shows around the UK before rebranding as Big Image and relaunching with a more ambitious sound. That sound caught my ear back in April 2023 and I’ve had them on the show several times – ‘Parallel Love Affair just might be my favorite of theirs, and since it’s been a long minute since they were last on, they’re opening the show this week.
Zero-G Racetrack – Hard to Believe
I really do feel that ‘Hard To Believe’ captures the essence of my band, Zero-G Racetrack’s, first wave of songs. It was released in 2023 and is a reminder that there’s nothing quite like the feeling you get when someone you dig digs you back, and it’s definitely worth the time to let that person know about it.

Catherine Moan – Jawbreaker
Philadelphia’s Catherine Moan has been on Z-GR! Radio several times and for good reason – I’ve had her on the show several times with tracks like ‘Soda Pop’ and stream leader ‘Fools’, but this time around, I’m spinning up 2023’s ‘Jawbreaker’, which, in typical Catherine Moan fashion, is sweet on the surface but packed with bite make sure you check out Catherine’s twitch account under the username CATHMOAN.
Sweet Tempest – Giving It Up
Song #5 Description
Sweet Tempest’s ‘Giving It Up’ is a great example of the ‘Z-GR! Radio’ sound came across Sweet Tempest back in 2022, and since then, they’ve blown things up – I’ve had multiple tracks of theirs on the show – ‘Giving It Up’ is a favorite of mine, and I decided that it was time for you to hear it again.

Flight Attendant- Therapy Couch
Based in Nashville, Flight Attendant is an indie pop trio who hit my radar through a joint with another Z-GR! Radio artist, the Crumbsuckers, and they hit my radar via a note from their publicist, which just goes to show how valuable collaborations can be. ‘Therapy Couch’ has a really great groove, and is making a second appearance on the show.
Estella Dawn – Move Down Lover
You can imagine that I hear a lot of lyrics by a lot of artists here at Z-GR! Radio, and I can say that Estella Dawn is amongst the very best I’ve heard – her lyrics are clever takes on unabashed topics and are a ton of fun – ‘Move Down Lover’ is more of the same, and is a shining example as to why Estella’s fanbase is on a serious upward trajectory. Keep them coming, Estella, and I’ll keep playing them.

House of Asha – Stride
‘Stride’ is a track off of Silicon Valley’s House of Asha’s outstanding ‘Behind Closed Doors’ EP. I met Asha in downtown San Jose at a performance shortly after her EP release and was super impressed. She has a wonderfully smooth, sultry voice that is immediately recognizable in all the best ways. She’s done a few joints with Bay Area Producer and Episode 15 Featured Guest ‘Dust Breaks’ – I’ve been teasing her appearance on an upcoming Zero-G Racetrack song that never seems to materialize, but promise that it exists, is awesome, and you’ll hear right here on Z-GR! Radio when it’s released.
Quilz – I Fought The Law
This week’s cover was written by Sonny Curtis, a member of The Crickets, the band originally formed by Buddy Holly. After Holly died in 1959, the Crickets continued recording, and Curtis wrote the song during this transitional period. The track’s been covered by multiple artists across multiple genres and as a result, has become a recognizable musical standout for more than six decades. Standout covers are by Green Day, Hank Williams, Jr., Social Distortion and notably, the Clash, because MidWest synthpop duo The Quilz has released the track on an EP of dedicated Clash Cover tracks, and their take on ‘I Fought the Law’ is really great.
Tall Dark Whimsy – Wabi Sabi
Mark Mallman – Giant Wave
Minneapolis-based musician, composer, and author Mark Mallman is up for his third appearance on the show. His material is really different and undeniably cool, he’s known for high energy long-form live appearances, but he has an extensive library that dates back to the turn of the century – ‘Giant Wave’ is off of 2010’s ‘Do You Feel Like Breaking Up?’ EP.

Stevie Starlight – Impossible Lovers
Southern California artist Stevie Starlight hit the show way back on Episode 26 and has appeared multiple times since – he has a cool sound, a cool vibe on Social Media and a really great library of cools songs to pull from – for this go around , I decided to reach back to one of my favorites, 2024’s ‘Impossible Lovers’.
Caligula – Before
The Spotify algorithm persistently insisted that I listen to Sydney, Australia’s Caligula for months – I did, I liked them and the band debuted on Episode 38 – since then, they’ve greatly expanded their back catalog, and though I usually don’t reach back this far, I found ‘Before’ on 1993’s i.C.U. EP – I dug it a lot and I think you will too – the band opened for Jesus Jones back in the day, and you can hear why they matched up so well.
William Lovitt – Sidewinder Glide
William Lovitt was our Guest Artist on Episode 11 and I really really love his catalog. He’s a mentor at newartistspotlight.org, which, like Z-GR! Radio seeks to get new ears on emerging artists – I’ve had several artists from the platform on the show, and I highly recommend taking a look at it either as an artist looking to join a community or as a listener looking to expand your horizons. Bill has a brand new track called ‘Sidewinder Glide’ that’s more guitar heavy than usual, but it’s just as funky and just groovy as you’d hope and expect from him.
