EPISODE 67 of Z-GR! Radio
November 7, 2025
Z-GR! Radio overview right from your Host:
- My name is Scot Apathy – I’m the lead singer for Zero-G Racetrack, and I curate the ‘Floating Around the Racetrack’ Spotify/YouTube playlist. It’s not a pay for play list; I personally choose what’s on it based on what I hear and what I like. True story.
- For Z-GR! Radio, I include artists from the playlist, though for time availabilty reasons, I’ve moved most of my attention to the show. I include new artists as well as artists who have appeared on past episodes.
- The artists included come from myriad genres, geographical locations and stage of growth. I stay away from mainstream established artists, but I will play artists that I’ve followed as they grow. I love it when emerging artists gain traction, and I like to celebrate it.
- I include a cover song each week, and highly recommend checking out MetroVeteran’s (Ruel Smith) ‘Synthwave Covers’ Spotify playlist. There are 950+ great tracks on that list and he updates often.
- I post a page like this each week to help you find out more about the artists you heard on this week’s show and to make it easy to do so.
- We occasionally select artists for our NEWHD Featured Artist program. I’ll note those artists as they appear, and there are links to them at newhdradio.com/zgr.
Have fun with the list , enjoy the artists/music and…
PLEASE share the page out on your Socials!
Z-GR! Radio Episode 67 Lineup
Zynic - Land of the Free
German synthpop project Zynic, was founded in 2008 by German musician H.P. Siemandel, who has a mission stqtement: “carry th spirit of the eighties into tomorrow”by bridging classic ‘80’s synthpop an modern electronic pop – it’s working, I had a Zynic remix of a Beborn Beton track on Episode 22, but this week’s opener is all Zynic, and it’s a banger.
San Junipero Experience / Leslie Young - Magnetized Witness - (Remix)
Based in Budapest by Balázs Specker, the San Junipero Experience is a one-man “80s retrowave-pop” project – Balázs describes the project as ‘low-fi pixelated synthwave-pop’ – this remix of ‘Magnetized Witness’ is by Italo-wave artist Leslie Young, who emphasizes pulsing synth-bass, arpeggiated leads.

Def Neon - Rotoscope
What happens when you throw robots, cartoons, horror films, and rave culture into an audio blender? You get DEF NEON, a North Wales duo made up of Emily Gresham and Mikey Harmina – Their sound has been described as ‘Daft Punk meets Siouxsie Sioux’ and I am all in – I’m reaching back to their 2016 debut album for ‘Rotoscope’.
Weird Wolves - Love to Love
Z-GR! Radio favorite Weird Wolves, formed back in 2018 in Austin, Texas by Raphael Colantonio and Ava Gore – Ava departed and Celestina Gravely joined along with Ben Post – their 2025 full length album is really, really great and ‘Love to Love’ is the tilte track.

Zero-G Racetrack - Hard to Believe
I really do feel that ‘Hard To Believe’ captures the essence of my band, Zero-G Racetrack’s, first wave of songs. It sits perfectly in the Modern SynthRock pocket; the guitars rock out without overwhelming (squeals and all), the synths add the perfect flavor and the vocal hook in Chorus really sells the track. Damia Foti’s background singing adds the perfect support to my lead vocal.

Bad Daughter - My Shrink Says Hi
Orange County Death March - Dark Empath
OC favorite Orange County Death March is an electro-rock band based in Los Angeles – they were an Episode 1 artist on Z-GR ! Radio and I’ve had them on the show several times since – I’ve been a fan since 2022 and they have a ton of great tracks for this go around, I’m bring their latest – 2025’s Dark Empath, a joint with featured vocalist Emi Kohatsu.
Lord Sunny the Unifier - Keep the Fierce
Lord Sonny the Unifier is a Brooklyn, New York–based band and I am a fan, though I’ll confess that I originally thought the four piece was a solo artist – apologies, guys – Their sound is modern psychedelic with a mix of synth/keyboard textures and post‑punk attitude. I first had them on Episode 43 and dug them so much that I included them again on the epic two hour Episode 50 I’ve returned to their 2025 album ‘You Were Born to Save Your Life’ for ‘Keep the Fierce’.

Pussywillows - Catfight
Carly Gibson and Hannah Zale are the core members of Atlanta’s The Pussywillows, who self-describe their bold, cinematic mixture of grit and glam as “Tarantino feminism”. Their thematic identity around female empowerment adds a strong personality to their brand, and I am here for it – ‘Catfight’ is off of their latest album, titled ‘Woman’.
Indigo Flood - Collage
This week’s cover is a deep dive into Joe Walsh’s early career – before the Eagles, Joe was in a late 60’s power trio called The James Gang – he was in the group for around three years, and their first album, Yer’ Album, contained a baroque-rock ballad with orchestral textures called ‘Collage’ – it’s an amazing and piece of music, so when I came across a fantastic cover of the track by Chicago’s blues/funk band Indigo Flood, I knew it was going on the show.
Invisible Squirrel - Elephant
The invisible Squirrel has been a featured guest instrumental artist on Z-GR! Radio not once but twice – I celebrated the release of the Squirrel’s ‘Filter Tips’ album on Episode 31, so it’s been a long minute, and I decided to revisit the album and to close this episode with ‘Elephant’. You’re welcome.
Paralandra - Time Warp
It’s the 50th Anniversary of the Rocky Horror Picture Show this year, and for those of us who have seen the movie in theaters hundreds of times and know every line of dialogue forwards and back wards, there is something to be said for the idea that warping time backwards a decade or two might be worth the effort. I played Riff Raff in the midnight movie production, so I’m in tune with the classic song ‘Time Warp’, and Missouri’s Paralandra has a great take on the track and a cool video to go along with it that’s definitely worth checking out.
Mister the Kid / Dimi Kaye - Darkness
Dimi Kaye is a Z-GR! Radio favorite, and back in 2021, he teamed up with the Motion Epic’s guitarist Mister the Kid for a shredfest homage to TIm Curry’s legendary performance as the Lord of Darkness in Ridley Scott’s 1985 film Legend. If you haven’t seen it, do yourself an immediate solid and check it out.
