EPISODE 61 of Z-GR! Radio
August 29, 2025
Z-GR! Radio overview right from your Host:
- My name is Scot Apathy – I’m the lead singer for Zero-G Racetrack, and I curate the ‘Floating Around the Racetrack’ Spotify/YouTube playlist. It’s not a pay for play list; I personally choose what’s on it based on what I hear and what I like. True story.
- For Z-GR! Radio, I include artists from the playlist, though for time availabilty reasons, I’ve moved most of my attention to the show. I include new artists as well as artists who have appeared on past episodes.
- The artists included come from myriad genres, geographical locations and stage of growth. I stay away from mainstream established artists, but I will play artists that I’ve followed as they grow. I love it when emerging artists gain traction, and I like to celebrate it.
- I include a cover song each week, and highly recommend checking out MetroVeteran’s (Ruel Smith) ‘Synthwave Covers’ Spotify playlist. There are 950+ great tracks on that list and he updates often.
- I post a page like this each week to help you find out more about the artists you heard on this week’s show and to make it easy to do so.
- We occasionally select artists for our NEWHD Featured Artist program. I’ll note those artists as they appear, and there are links to them at newhdradio.com/zgr.
Have fun with the list , enjoy the artists/music and…
PLEASE share the page out on your Socials!
Z-GR! Radio Episode 61 Lineup
Berenika - Radio Underground
Berenika, is an emerging electronic music project out of Batumi, Georgia; I had them on Episode 54, as soon as I heard this track I knew immediately that this was going to open the show this week – the track has a Wall of Voodoo meets Oingo Boing vibe and I really did consider holding it back for this year’s Halloween show, but it’s just too good to leave on the shelf.
Monique Ortiz - So Far Away
Monique Ortiz has a great bass guitar sound and I’m all about that – Originally from Pennsylvania she’s now in Austin by way of Boston, and she’s known for her slide bass playing on her custom 2-string slide bass, which you can hear distinctly on ‘So Far Away’.
Unify Separate - Embrace the Fear
Stockholm-based synth-pop duo Unify Separate is made up of Andrew Montgomery on voice and Leo Josefsson on keys – ‘Embrace the Fear’ features on their 2022 effort ‘Music Since Tomorrow’ – I had the track on the show way back on Episode 7 and decided that you need to hear it again.
Alabama 3 / Wizard - (I Can't) Keep Calm and Carry On (Remix)
Formed in Birmingham in 1995, Alabama 3 blends acid house, country, blues, and electronic beats into a style they call “country acid house.” I’ve become a fan over the last several years – and this track, a remix by Wizard AKA Greg Fleming, opened episode 31 was due for a replay, and there you have it.

The FMs - Silent City (Ghost Stories Redux)
New York City’s The FMs formed in 2016 as a queer-punk duo made up of Matte Namer and Frankie Rex After Frankie’s tragic passing in 2022, their album 51122, singles like A Means to an End, and this track, Silent City (Ghost Stories Redux) stand as raw, powerful tributes to their spirit. They’re still releasing tracks and playing live, so catch them if you get the chance.

Bec Sandridge - Cost of Love (Denim Remix)
Z-GR! Radio favorite Bec Sadridge has been on a tear lately, playing for growing audiences and dropping new tracks consistently – the Cost of Love (DENIM Remix) transforms the original song into a lush, synth-driven pop anthem and is a standout from Bec’s 2022 EP Lost Dog.

Tripnaha - I Wanna Know
Tripnaha formed in 2016 by Elin Johansson and Fredd Jakobsen – ‘I Wanna Know’ is featured on their 2021 EP Fortyfive – the duo, who are originally from Sweden and now based in Berlin, wrote, produced, recorded, and mixed the EP themselves, with mastering by Hans Olsson.
Unroyal - Adulthood
Unroyal is a Swedish synth-pop duo—Adam Olofsson and Henrik Oja – the production is fantastic and Adam’s vocals are outstanding – I’ve been a fan since 2022 when I first heard their their 2019 album, ‘Mainstream’, and I’d encourage you take a spin through it when you can. Theyy were active in 2022 and in late 2024, they released a standalone single, so I’m hoping we’ve got some new music coming from them soon.
Vibravoid - Incense and Peppermints
Strawberry Alarm Clock’s “Incense and Peppermints” is one of the most iconic songs of the psychedelic rock era. Released in 1967, it reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November of that year, and the song became a counterculture anthem, appearing in films and countless psychedelic compilations.
Vibravoid formed in Düsseldorf in 1990 and have released an enormous body of work: they have over 22 studio albums, countless EPs, live records, and rare covers including 2008’s imagining of ‘Incense and Peppermints’ – their version stays true to the original vibe while leaning into thicker guitar distortion, droning synths, extended psychedelic jams, and analog soundscapes. It’s a darker take for sure, but fantastic just the same.
Zero-G Racetrack - I Remember
‘I Remember’ is Zero-G Racetrack’s ninth single and the closest they’ve come to a ballad – the track merges synthpop, cyberpunk, and electronic alt-rock and explores the notion that every relationship has positives worth remembering regardless of how and why things ended.

Estella Dawn - 514 Denim
Z-GR! Radio favorite Estella Dawn is a New Zealand born singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer who writes, records, and co-produces all her music. At 19, she moved to the U.S.—initially residing in Denver and later relocated to San Diego and has been building a steady fanbase and stream count through catchy, clever lyrics and savvy social media promotion. ‘514 Denim’ is a slick pop anthem that pairs fly bass and jazzy guitar licks and has crossed the 1 million stream mark on Spotify and for good reason.

Crewless - Stereoty
Salt Lake City, Utah, Crewless infuses electronica with indie-pop punk energy – their sound leans into harmonies generated by three lead vocalists playing over on a musical bed made by blending punk guitars with danceable grooves. It all works really, really well. ‘Stereotype’ is their latest.
