Emma Dilemma – Alright
Emma Dilemma – Alright
Our opener this week is awesome on multiple fronts – first, New Zealand’s Emma Dilemma, AKA Emma Cameron , has remixed multiple genres into something really cool – it’s a blend of Rock, Pop and Hip-Hop that really works – Emma’s also supplying this week’s cover song with a refresh of Kiwi band Tadpole’s ‘Alright’, which went to #2 on New Zealand’s Top 40 charts back in 2000. The whole thing gets even better – Emma not only covered the track, she ended up on Tadpole’s 21st reunion tour, as a standing in for original vocalist Renée Brennan. Look, the track really is as cool as I’m making it sound – this is ‘Aright’ here on NEWHD Rock Evolution.
All Ears Avow – Be That Nothing
UK’s All Ears Avow is a four-piece formed in 2013 from the remains of several other Swindon-area bands and it seems to have worked out – 2021’s ‘Be That Nothing’ merges big guitars with a pop-vocal – the rtrack’s a banger, no lie, and there’s a cool dance remix of the song that’s worth checking out as well.
Entitled Sons – Break
The Entitled Sons are 4 brothers and their Dad and are out of Somerset, UK – the band is really tearing things up – I featured ‘Break’ on Episode 32 and while I wasn’t looking, the track has quietly jumped to over 200 thousand streams. The cool story here is that they’re dragging their Dad around to play bass. Of course, he has to drive them around in return, but it seems to be a fair tradeoff and they sound really, really great.
K. Michelle Dubois – Tar and Scars
‘Tars and Scars’ caught my ear with a fantastic grinding rhythm that supports a really great haunting vocal by Atlanta-based K. Michelle Dubois. Originally from Tennessee, She’s been a fixture in the Atlanta music scene for quite a while – ‘Tars and Scars’ is the first release from her upcoming album ‘Infinity Sandwich’, and I’m really looking forward to it.

Romy Lake – Play With Fire
Romy Lake’s first album, ‘Wild & Free’ is replete with Anthemic hooks and attitude to burn. There are a bunch of great tracks on the record, but ‘Playing With Fire’ caught my ear. Not much out there on them, which is a bit surprising as they’re pretty active on Insty and their record is awesome. Make sure you give it a spin.
Trashy Annie – God Save The Queen
Trashy Annie is an Austin-based band fronted by namesake Annie Davis – ‘God Save The Queen’ is their third song in as many appearances on the show, and all of them have been great. Rumor has it that they’ve got some new material landing in the near future, and as always, the band is clocking miles out on the road, and you should catch them if you have the opportunity.
Michelle Treacy – It Feels So Good to Be Back
Ottawa’s out and proud Michelle Treacy first gained widespread attention at 17 when she was invited onstage by Lady Gaga during the ArtRave tour in Montreal, which led to a major label deal with Sony Music Canada and16 weeks on the Canadian Billboard Hot 100. In 2019, Michelle won the second season of CTV’s The Launch, worked with Nile Rodgers on a track – and is an advocate for mental health awareness and bullying prevention, mentoring up-and-coming female artists in songwriting and performance. All of that is awesome, as is ‘It Feels So Good to Be Back’.

Coach Party – Girls
Coach Party, from the Isle of Wight, has been taking the world by storm since 2019, and their latest, ‘Girls’ is the first release from their impending ‘Caramel’ record, slated to drop later this year. If the rest of the album sounds like this track, we’re in for another winner from the band.

Sam Saint Jones / Samuel Muir – London Girl
Sam Saint Jones is the indie rock alias of Australian musician and producer Samuel Muir, who also goes by the name Veptune – London Girl is off of his 2021 concept album ‘Man In The Moon’, which is outstanding – I love the album and I love this track for it’s great modern 80’s vibe.
Zero-G Racetrack – Hard to Believe
QueenB / Maria Flores – #15 Turtle
I stumbled over ‘Turtle’ by Russian Bella Hill aka QueenB and was immediately taken with the song and the artist. She’s a Russian in New Zealand and the track is part of Bella’s Rock Musical titled ‘You Are the Boss!’ the tracks are numbered – Turtle is #15 – and the rock opera vibe is clearly present throughout the song. There’s a fun video to go along with the track, and it’s worth checking out.
