The Not So Funny Morning Show
Doug Doescher
M-F 6A-10A
Start your morning with New York native Doug Doescher, the unmistakable voice and personality behind The Not So Funny Morning Show on NEWHD NY. Doug brings decades of broadcasting experience to the mic, drawing from his storied career at WNEW, The Howard Stern Show, CBS Sports Radio, and his work as the National Voice of Toyota.
Known as The Ambassador of Rock, Doug blends his deep knowledge of rock history, pop culture, and the broadcast world with his signature dry wit and the occasional offbeat remark. His background in stand-up comedy gives the show just enough humor to keep listeners entertained without losing the focus on what matters most—the music.
Each morning, Doug delivers engaging stories behind the songs, artists, and cultural moments that shaped generations, all with the authentic New York edge that only he can provide. It is informative, unpredictable, and never quite as funny as Doug hopes it will be—which is exactly what makes it perfect.

Doug Doescher
Doug Doescher’s passion for radio began in the 70s, back when he was a kid glued to WABC-AM, trying to figure out how those legendary voices made the entire city stop and listen. Instead of outgrowing that obsession, Doug doubled down and chased it straight to Ithaca College’s WICB-FM, where he learned the ropes, worked the boards, and decided that sleep was optional if radio was involved.
From there, Doug’s voice traveled across the Northeast, eventually landing on Westchester’s 107.1 FM and, in a true pinch-yourself moment, at the iconic WNEW-FM. There he found himself sharing space with his heroes Pat St. John and Scott Muni, proof that sometimes dreams do come true—especially if you annoy the program director enough to give you a shift.
Doug did not just stay behind the mic. He brought his comedic instincts to The Howard Stern Show, crafted commercials for 1010 WINS and WFAN, and became versatile enough to make Toyota trust him as a national voice. Yet no matter where he went or what he voiced, one truth followed him everywhere: like Eric Clapton says, Doug has “a rock and roll heart,” and he wears it proudly.
Now, Doug is back to doing what he loves most—waking up New York with a curated morning playlist, a few too many stories from the old days, and the occasional attempt at humor. He calls himself The Ambassador of Rock, and while nobody is exactly sure who gave him that title, he is doing everything he can to live up to it.
If you rise a little earlier and tune in, Doug will set the rhythm for your day. Just do not expect him to be as funny as he thinks he is. That is part of the charm.
